With over 20 years of complex commercial litigation experience, Michael Mena drives Ontier’s U.S. strategy and expands its cross-border capabilities for clients operating between Europe, Latin America, and the United States. Throughout his career, Michael’s practice has focused on all aspects of litigation in federal and state court, with an emphasis on complex disputes. He has first-chair trial experience in both federal and state court and has handled a variety of litigation matters over the course of his career, including business and contract disputes, real estate disputes, torts, class actions, securities litigation, and commercial foreclosures.
Served as lead trial counsel in a successful federal jury trial involving a complex real estate dispute, resulting in a verdict and prevailing-party fee award for the largest U.S. company.
Defended one of the largest multinational spirits companies in civil RICO and related tort actions.
Advised a public company client on negotiated contracts, including legal compliance with applicable laws and regulations, as well as the assessment of potential legal and compliance risks.
