Fast track for strategic projects
As mentioned in a previous publication, on September 29, 2025, Law No. 21,770, the Framework Law on Sectorial Authorizations (“LMAS”), was published in the Official Gazette.
Article 20 of the new law states that, unless otherwise provided by law, the sectorial procedure may not exceed the following time periods:
a) one hundred and twenty days in the case of administration or disposition authorizations.
b) fifty days in the case of location authorizations.
c) sixty days in the case of professional or service authorizations.
d) fifty days in the case of project authorizations.
e) twenty-five days in the case of operating authorizations.
f) sixty days in the case of other authorizations.
Therefore, we can conclude that the LMAS incorporates a regulatory fast track: strategic projects will have their deadlines reduced by half.
This means that an authorization that used to take a year should now be resolved in approximately six months.
The most benefited sectors will be those related to mining, energy, infrastructure and large investments.
There is therefore a clear signal: Chile wants to accelerate the engines of investment.
