Paula Fernández Huertas

Paula is a senior lawyer with extensive experience in complex litigation and arbitration. She specialises in the defence of national and international clients in proceedings before the Spanish Courts, with a particular focus on energy, corporate disputes and construction and engineering, among other areas.

Paula regularly acts as counsel in arbitral proceedings administered by leading institutions such as the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the Madrid Court of Arbitration (CAM), with a particular focus on international arbitration and complex construction and engineering disputes. Her experience includes advising in arbitral proceedings seated in Latin America, Spain, Paris, London and the Middle East.

Fluent in English, French and native Spanish, Paula brings a distinctly international profile that enables her to operate across multiple jurisdictions and take part in multilingual proceedings.

Committed to talent development in arbitration, she is also a member of the coordination committee of the Spanish Arbitration Club’s (CEIA) mentoring programme (women’s section), connecting young lawyers with leading professionals in the sector.

She holds a double degree in Law and Business Administration and a Master’s in Legal Practice, complemented by specialised training in arbitration.

Advising and defending a multinational energy company in an arbitration proceeding before the ICC in English, based in Latin America, in a dispute arising from an EPC contract for the construction and commissioning of a photovoltaic plant.

Advising and representing multinational construction companies in various proceedings before the Spanish courts.

Representation of a listed energy company in an ICC arbitration, in English, in the claim for a multi-million dollar penalty arising from the termination of several power purchase agreements (PPAs).
